Tunde’s practice focus is energy and infrastructure finance. His experience as in-house counsel in several financial institutions, as Chief Legal Advisor in one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous oil companies, coupled with his international corporate and regulatory practice experience in Washington, D.C., California and Nigeria provides a bridge to the experience of our Chief Consultants. He has negotiated and advised on numerous financings and cross-border transactions, notably financing transactions in the oil and gas, telecommunications, real estate and infrastructure sectors of the Nigerian economy.

He was the Chief Legal Advisor at the Sahara Group Limited, a Nigerian oil and gas company with over ten operational subsidiaries and diverse interests in the Nigerian economy including an electric power arm that acquired the Egbin Power Plant; and five international offices with over 400 staff. He was responsible for the overall legal strategy of the company and counseled the company on numerous local and cross-border transactions, projects and international business transactions in Africa, Europe, and Asia.

He was also Vice President, Legal at Oceanic Capital Company Limited, where he worked extensively on finance and infrastructure deals in various sectors of the Nigerian economy including a $50 million financing of an upstream oil and gas asset, various multi-million dollar oil trading financing transactions, a $100 million real estate infrastructure project and a $90 million financing for an agricultural company. Whilst working in the United States he advised on venture capital transactions and represented emerging growth companies in raising venture capital finance in Series A, B, C, D financing and bridge financing transactions. Some of the deals he worked on include the $1.7 billion Google – You Tube Merger and the $2.5 billion acquisition of Redback Networks by Ericsson. Tunde also had a brief stint at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. in 2005.

He recently completed a 15-month stint at the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Tunis and Abidjan where he served as a Legal Consultant – Private Sector Operations and advised on the financing of several multi-million dollar public infrastructure projects across the continent.
